This week I have been working on uplifting every day items that otherwise I would throw away, recycle, sell in a garage sale, etc.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
The first was this framed art. I loved the frame!!! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">
By painting the glass with chalkboard paint, I transformed this into a new fun piece! With the neutral color of the frame, it can be used in many different places within the home.</div>
<div align="center">
</div>
<div align="center">

The next was an item which in normal cases would be recycled immediately. </div>

However, wrapping twine and gluing it around this bottle repurposed it into a great Autumn vase. To finish off the vase, I cut small branches off our tree. A perfect touch!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
As I sat in the chair, I realized how excited I was, and not even knowing what the final "look" would be. At this point, the final result did not matter, it wasn't why I was here. I had been waiting for this moment for two year and half years, well I suppose I have been waiting for this moment since the last time I did it. My stylist brushed all of my hair into a ponytail at the nape of my neck, and with shears in hand, she started to work through the ponytail. And finally....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGqiMmBbsRyJ5LZOMPE8PfLoH3H9tM7iZ2-qrLw3GE34zAQsWpyogDsCPnuRmdODVcvrrfUBaVU0JRGJxfAHRtCtwGVwMxuGbyN0goBKfYq5RONs9VuT7YD1HOqu2T8KWkxcP1u9YF0hus/s1600/IMG_0517.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGqiMmBbsRyJ5LZOMPE8PfLoH3H9tM7iZ2-qrLw3GE34zAQsWpyogDsCPnuRmdODVcvrrfUBaVU0JRGJxfAHRtCtwGVwMxuGbyN0goBKfYq5RONs9VuT7YD1HOqu2T8KWkxcP1u9YF0hus/s320/IMG_0517.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
And you ask, why would I grow all this hair just to cut it off. The answer is simple...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.locksoflove.org/" target="_blank"><span style="color: magenta; font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: large;"><strong><em>Locks of Love</em></strong></span></a> </div>

It is her I think of when I don't want to "deal" with the length of my hair any longer. I can't imagine if she or my son became a victim of cancer or any other life threatening disease. The "what ifs" are more frightening the anything I have ever personally faced. This very thought breaks my heart. Therefore, I keep moving forward, continually trimming and conditioning, to ensure the best quality of the donation.</div>

There are so many rumors going around about the donation. I for one believed these and therefore did not donate when I could have. There are a lists of regulations <span style="color: magenta;"><a href="http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html" target="_blank">here</a></span>. The most wide spread rumor I would like to put to rest is... Your hair CAN be colored and permed, yes, yes, it can. I started going gray at a very young age of 21, and I am now 90% gray in the front, I know, YIKES, right?!? As you can imagine, I color lots and very regularly! My hair is very donatable (is that a word?). This is a cause I feel very strongly in and will continue to grow, cut, and donate. I encourage you to do the same. <br />

A few weeks ago I attended a <a href="http://thecanaryscupcake.blogspot.com/2012/08/my-stork-sprinkle.html" target="_blank">Sprinkle</a> in honor of my dear friend and her soon to be newborn son. Speaking of my oldest, she recently acquired a desk. She has been wanting one for awhile and was excited to finally have one. It was a very sturdy desk, especially for her age, however, it wasn't quite finished... It was painted with flat white paint and was only painted with one coat. It hadn't been sanded and was very rough to the touch. The desk also looked as if it had been used for target practice with a nail gun. There were 50 + nail holes, all unfilled. YIKES!!!</div>

The desk was painted with the gloss white paint I have used for our wood trim in our home. After two coats were applied, I noticed the top was warping. UGH! Not wanting to give up on this project, I had to find a way to work with the top. What about decoupage, using vintage dictionary pages?!? The pages would be a great inspiration for those study times at the desk, right?!? To give a fun tween look to the vintage pages, I inked them in green to match her room and her bright personality! </div>

<br />
After making my <a href="http://flourishwithavintageflair.blogspot.com/2012/09/eek-halloween-is-upon-us.html" target="_blank">Spook-tacular Halloween Wreath,</a> I wanted to try something more colorful. I grabbed my assortment of Martha Stewart Paints, and wouldn't you know it, I had more shades of pink then any other color. I believe it was a sign...<br />
<br />
First I did some investigating, the how to's to coffee filter wreaths. I didn't really like any of the techniques used so I made my own technique. <br />
<br />
First I dyed LOTS of coffee filters with a mixture of paint and water, the consistancy of milk, allowing them to soak anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. The different times allowed deeper and lighter shades. Next, let dry completely.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzALM5AMWkVC6hIXG2Gqvvd0ncu2eco47W9L_CFrv0B4Ye04OmkdVYAR-9hZHdvbjniDlxDn7wC39Z-tnUvWRQ-QjpBXSyc0vI6LDaOvMDno3ewZII2unxNrs3WKZUhLIwM6sXSNnBkC-r/s1600/IMG_7165.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzALM5AMWkVC6hIXG2Gqvvd0ncu2eco47W9L_CFrv0B4Ye04OmkdVYAR-9hZHdvbjniDlxDn7wC39Z-tnUvWRQ-QjpBXSyc0vI6LDaOvMDno3ewZII2unxNrs3WKZUhLIwM6sXSNnBkC-r/s320/IMG_7165.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The next step is cut a spiral, oh and by the way, I used regular size coffee filters and extra large.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtTlGW-k7a3qa3Q-w332qfgk-chug2eNphyHLpUGgq1ThVAK3gRgNEDS25X7Q7zMVl_b5SOxYNLrmebXOQpKmpPSXD7A65h1zSLjFy3KuJ_Pp33tM69JhgcBLhHgVTbokPGcyEDR3elzVV/s1600/IMG_7166.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtTlGW-k7a3qa3Q-w332qfgk-chug2eNphyHLpUGgq1ThVAK3gRgNEDS25X7Q7zMVl_b5SOxYNLrmebXOQpKmpPSXD7A65h1zSLjFy3KuJ_Pp33tM69JhgcBLhHgVTbokPGcyEDR3elzVV/s320/IMG_7166.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I started each flower by rolling from the outside in...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhO7uEFsBYvtquiNbQWzQg_xPHMHhoHn5KHEVCKxU3SWTN6fwkrldSeUpUeIknQ1ckQLuTplVQMFNGwpwkcIoUvkp3uTWYDuSFnD1ZCaJSar3F1Ec0fzUso5Ddn8jBG3qRNaWOwHPy1aOq/s1600/IMG_7169.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhO7uEFsBYvtquiNbQWzQg_xPHMHhoHn5KHEVCKxU3SWTN6fwkrldSeUpUeIknQ1ckQLuTplVQMFNGwpwkcIoUvkp3uTWYDuSFnD1ZCaJSar3F1Ec0fzUso5Ddn8jBG3qRNaWOwHPy1aOq/s320/IMG_7169.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
as I rolled, I gathered, hot glued, rolled, gathered, glued...<br />

Some I rolled tight, some I rolled not so tight, and some I rolled very loose. The next step was to start glueing on the wreath itself.<br />

Halloween is upon us!!!My love for decorating our home for different holidays and seasons has been running rampant! I always do the same decor for the Autumn season, however, this year I wanted to change it up a bit. My focus was on Halloween and doing something ghoulishly fun!!! I started with bats, 60 bats, hand cut in 5 different sizes...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJa_XRPhdAHO__-xYY_UYUvCkNzAjvO0XDBSR2OccdFlsiEEMmoq93dKhOiuA-F43CzRgyiSlzN2aRMu9D_jhxMTG0Vbg3Zia67AMC-gGDc6m8NJssXwJSy-_5gMRhfkxC84YmdAPUKXGc/s1600/IMG_7132.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJa_XRPhdAHO__-xYY_UYUvCkNzAjvO0XDBSR2OccdFlsiEEMmoq93dKhOiuA-F43CzRgyiSlzN2aRMu9D_jhxMTG0Vbg3Zia67AMC-gGDc6m8NJssXwJSy-_5gMRhfkxC84YmdAPUKXGc/s320/IMG_7132.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This inspiration came from my very talented friend <a href="http://thecanaryscupcake.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Bryanna</a>. She however, hand cut 200+ bats last year for Halloween, YIKES! The idea of the different sizes were to give the affect of the bats flying away. Did it work?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The wreath was made after I attended <a href="http://www.artfuladventuresphotography.com/" target="_blank">Bryanna's Sprinkle.</a> She had made pink ones, absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to make mine a little ..... dark...<br />

Summer is a special time for our family. Since I am able to stay home with my two favorite little people, our "to-do" list is ever growing. The one project the kids and I have enjoyed this summer is tending to our garden. We are growing many different veggies as well as fresh herbs. Our basil plant has been quite the success. Two days ago, I went out again and harvested approximately 2 Cups of basil leaves. A pesto sauce seemed to be the easy way to use this abundance of basil, however, I would then need to make a market run for pine nuts. I looked around my kitchen and spotted my loot of tomatoes resting by the window, waiting for salsa to be made. And then it hit me, Vodka Basil Spaghetti Sauce. It felt a little funny grabbing the vodka bottle from the liquor cabinet first thing in the morning, lol! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
The "Mad Scientist" in me dove right in to this concoction. I first chopped a yellow onion and minced a half head of garlic, cooking the onion and garlic to a nice translucent appearance. Then adding one cup of vodka carefully, remember alcohol is very flammable! I then started cutting approximately 20 tomatoes and chopped basil and added to the vodka saute. Needing additional flavors, cilantro, oregano, ground cayenne peppers, salt, and pepper were also thrown into the bubbling goodness forming in my dutch oven. Now this was smelling delightful, and I had to walk away and let everything cook down a bit. After a couple of hours of simmering, the sauce was too chunky for my liking. I poured the sauce into the blender, taking out the middle lid piece to allow the heat to escape. Held a towel on the lid and pushed blend.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my favorite meals is left-over spaghetti, I enjoyed day two of the meal simply because I would mix the leftover noodles and sauce in a container and warm it the next day together. I have learned now how to get that taste immediately. After cooking the noodles and rinsing them with cold water, place your serving of noodles in a pan, add your sauce and saute the two, this will help marry the flavors, incorporating the taste into the noodles.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I do apologize though, I do not have an exact recipe. Like I said before, I am a "mad scientist" type of cook, throwing and adding, never following a recipe. Therefore, just experiment with the ingredients I mentioned, adding a little at a time, and come up with what tastes best for you and your family. Enjoy!!!</div>

Our daughter is on holiday, visiting her family in Iowa. We miss her terribly! To keep myself busy, I decided to scrapbook. Why not??? Right?!?<br />
<br />
I can't stay away from my newest <a href="http://www.websterspages.com/" target="_blank">Webster's Pages </a>beauties. I LOVE LOVE it all!!! Here is a list of Webster's Pages I used in this layout.<br />
<br />
Game On Diecut<br />
Image & Phrase Stickers<br />
Storytellers Timeless Letter stickers<br />
Designer Trim<br />
Petite Papers<br />
<br />
In addition, I matted the picture of my daughter and I with Colorbook French Prep.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLlb8T8eJehEqg88mn7dHJi0RVFp2ugadGnzW_GSzJD17Mudt1SgOwf5LTmGpP1Svd4q8QPKROqgZqMwXgLEJjUZ8cPOZD_dFq23KOFdv8UzlsI9SvrhaUgWpRHNwxzB1z42P4dPuhsqhN/s1600/IMG_6912.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLlb8T8eJehEqg88mn7dHJi0RVFp2ugadGnzW_GSzJD17Mudt1SgOwf5LTmGpP1Svd4q8QPKROqgZqMwXgLEJjUZ8cPOZD_dFq23KOFdv8UzlsI9SvrhaUgWpRHNwxzB1z42P4dPuhsqhN/s320/IMG_6912.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
With the trim, I gathered and glued the blue and glued the red trim under to accent the top layer even more. It turned out perfectly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdSszgvbwzHWf1q-Jl10tHUDCmMnj0fZV41_Xh1xKHgnZvpXi3AfyWIz7lfeKOBOx3q_DWip2i1ZSM3VdRlV9Q4zigcxHks8cLc5Il54lprFOAQCEFpRSaH-IRoQzbLS7cBZf1AhuxTpUh/s1600/IMG_6910.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdSszgvbwzHWf1q-Jl10tHUDCmMnj0fZV41_Xh1xKHgnZvpXi3AfyWIz7lfeKOBOx3q_DWip2i1ZSM3VdRlV9Q4zigcxHks8cLc5Il54lprFOAQCEFpRSaH-IRoQzbLS7cBZf1AhuxTpUh/s320/IMG_6910.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The stickers are layered to insure the taupe colored letters did not get lost in the backdrop of the paper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP4oEGz7EaxLDVDZ2fN2-tSoT4CpU9DLpZaduTQ6IeAy42E9denRZuf8hVEe-BsZm8bd6g_iwt9jKUIvwW2_Pqkz3i1QSOWViozH9bTu6j8mmxEXK2XL_AQzlqI6r7hNq7KjBaemnuRr_g/s1600/IMG_6909.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP4oEGz7EaxLDVDZ2fN2-tSoT4CpU9DLpZaduTQ6IeAy42E9denRZuf8hVEe-BsZm8bd6g_iwt9jKUIvwW2_Pqkz3i1QSOWViozH9bTu6j8mmxEXK2XL_AQzlqI6r7hNq7KjBaemnuRr_g/s320/IMG_6909.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
By fussy cutting the megaphones, it added to a rather negative space and hid the gentleman eating his hotdog sitting behind us in the picture. I made the flags by once again, fussy cutting the rectangles, placing them on cut out flag shapes, and adhering them to toothpicks I colored with a red Sharpie. By adding the small quote stickers, it gave a more personal effect to the flags. I inked everything with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Festive Berries.<br />
<br />
I am thrilled with this layout! It took just an hour also!!! Enjoy your weekend and stay out of the heat!!!<br />Staciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12867046190273999416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697755804381947521.post-7086251681095780312012-06-27T15:42:00.000-05:002012-06-27T15:42:42.573-05:00106 Degrees and a Christmas MomentI am a frugal girl and I love finding amazing deals. My most favorite sale has always been the Webster's Pages HUGE Wharehouse Sale. I believe it is a semi annual sale. I always partake in the $25 package, and when it arrives on my doorstep I am as giddy as a child on Christmas Day. However, it is 106 degrees, and I am taken quickly back to reality. You never know what pieces will be included, so it is truly a surprise.<br />

This weekend is by far the hardest day to celebrate without her. No longer feeling her arms embrace me with a warm hug, hearing the simple words "I love you", telling her the funny line our little one blurted out the other evening, or hearing how she told everyone she knew how much of a 'star' her baby girl (our oldest and Mammaw's favorite) was the evening of the school musical. Oh how I miss her...<br />
<br />
Therefore, I simply remind myself I am surrounded by lots of loving Mothers. Ones that I share laughs and margaritas with and talk about "50 Shades of Grey", tee hee hee. Ones that are my family now, or have always been, or are "adopted members", and being very fond of those I can look into their eyes and see my own mother, or hear her through their own voice, stories and laughter. She is everywhere within each and all of you. Thank you.<br />
<br />
I am very fortunate to have such wonderful Mothers in my life! Once again, my Mother's Day card list has grown. I have made 16 cards this year for those dear to my heart. Each one unique, but sharing the same qualities, such as texture, color, font, style, etc. Here are samples of a few, take a look!<br />

With luck, I had the perfect wall. How did I know it was the perfect wall you ask, it was blessed with a thermostat right in the middle of it. UGH!!! We have lived here two years, and not one item has ever hung on that wall due to this decorating faux pas.<br />

<br />
I started last week gathering old frames, different sizes, shapes, colors, some metal, some plastic, and some wooden. Next step was my favorite, the gathering of my favorite spray paints! EEK!!! I rarely do a project that does not require spray paint, it is my biggest go-to these days. After restoring as many frames as I could find, I had to resort to buying a few. Goodwill had tons, however they were the same price of new frames I found at Dollar General. All in all, this project costs me $40.00, and I am tickled pink, no really, I am pink, due to calamine lotion covering my entire body. Darn poison ivy!<br />

The picture of our family under the rainbow was drawn by our oldest years ago before our youngest was born. As soon as she drew this, I put it in a frame, I love this piece of art! The picture to the right of it is of my mother and the picture above is of my mother-in-law and her sister.<br />

Hanging all these beautiful portraits has created many smiles in our home. We tell our children stories of their relatives, how we are related to each one, and explaining our family tree. After losing my mother, it was important to me to start collecting these family heirlooms so one day they can be passed down to our children. Then they, in return, can carry on those family stories from generation to generation.<br />

My personal favorite reason is "just because". Many of you know the excitement of reaching into your mailbox, thumbing through bills, advertisements, and the all too unnecessary junk mail, to find an envelope addressed personally to you from someone dear to you. Thinking, why? Birthday, no. Holiday, no. Hmmmm... And you open it to realize it is for you, just because.<br />
<br />
Here are a few I have been creating in the studio.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This year I was a little behind getting our home decorated for the Easter Season. But I have finally pulled it off. <br />
<br />
The most important part of this holiday is the reason for it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnRZU2vrc2Xuyj6jk6kwFwge9osAUa-uAC6JJ3Mmtf-7vtDeXrvi5vHvy0LJC8yO0N0lkPd4KS0BI2kFbfJvoglfZY4gtGn3e4pjxx3uxL7DAuCveVJbFwzir9cQ_nI4HusAbGHgenMpRO/s1600/IMG_6088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnRZU2vrc2Xuyj6jk6kwFwge9osAUa-uAC6JJ3Mmtf-7vtDeXrvi5vHvy0LJC8yO0N0lkPd4KS0BI2kFbfJvoglfZY4gtGn3e4pjxx3uxL7DAuCveVJbFwzir9cQ_nI4HusAbGHgenMpRO/s320/IMG_6088.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next is family. We always have Easter at home. I love it! This year, like most, Grandpa and Grandma are coming to celebrate with us. This gives me the chance to entertain!!! I really focused on our formal dining. </div>

The napkins are folded the same as the paper flowers. I went with paper flowers strictly for financial reasons. I searched for real flowers, but I would have spent a small fortune. And with these tissue paper beauties, I can reuse every year and store with the rest of my Easter goodies!<br />
<br />
The kids even decorate their rooms for the Lent Season.<br />

He believed every child loved root beer floats, so as a tradition he would always fix us one. My brother started that tradition again a year ago for my children.<br />
<br />
With that, tomorrow is our youngest's first school birthday celebration and I needed to come up with a fun treat to bring for his classmates. Since I had already taken root beer floats for our oldest's Valentine's party, something different needed to be done. Being a true Martha Stewart fan, I remembered a birthday treat she had on her show just last week, an <a href="http://www.marthastewart.com/332904/ice-cream-cone-cupcakes" target="_blank">Ice Cream Cone Cupcake.</a> The recipe is very easy, fun, and of course, YUMMY!!!<br />
<br />
And our little one is excited to share with all of his friends!!!<br />
<br />

Distressed, vintage furnishings are everywhere, or you may even see many reproductions at your favorite stores. Each piece I find inspires me to get my hands dirty. Here is one of my latest pieces.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I found this vintage mirror at a garage sale in pieces. However, I fell in love with the carvings and knew right away I could save it.<br />

It was once a home for some of his activities and I was getting ready to toss it into the recyclables and then it struck me.... Ribbon organizer! Here is what I came up with in a short afternoon break.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjM8im61piikP_8qrT1Dx5_VDtnHAwxZ9CsrrVDulbURgLgRrPwrogEyfTyEA6A-m8soInmhCgh7JQwzoHmp5GpIvn1gNKwoml4kwn3cetU3foFqHlz4Z0DtHc8IONN57WpIDpnitCT-ce/s1600/IMG_5887.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjM8im61piikP_8qrT1Dx5_VDtnHAwxZ9CsrrVDulbURgLgRrPwrogEyfTyEA6A-m8soInmhCgh7JQwzoHmp5GpIvn1gNKwoml4kwn3cetU3foFqHlz4Z0DtHc8IONN57WpIDpnitCT-ce/s320/IMG_5887.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Now I have a few ribbon organizers already...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvdc4IdxSlbJ10HwizMIEtQS8ENP5tQLrJzffME-nDkKEVJhgL8-nQ8i_wCxFYNaitJzswMNCzXtvcGCuIsXY9nkAKNNQB0lxDn9gJ8jgEEHxsAuk1PhrD-W-iwNGD8PkgUsnPzNd5QOK0/s1600/IMG_5869.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvdc4IdxSlbJ10HwizMIEtQS8ENP5tQLrJzffME-nDkKEVJhgL8-nQ8i_wCxFYNaitJzswMNCzXtvcGCuIsXY9nkAKNNQB0lxDn9gJ8jgEEHxsAuk1PhrD-W-iwNGD8PkgUsnPzNd5QOK0/s320/IMG_5869.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> and the shutter..</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHAGdPUZcedaMg7uF15fMv3T9t-JQt00zy3xGTW_n3MxKTphql21xEX7eeU2S2mEWGrDRpIOc-y3IPG82TgkQb3rguVrczAVRW2EEVEF3L5uRAVn-Le2yHHwkMwv81ot7TH3UQYxscSW9V/s1600/IMG_5874.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHAGdPUZcedaMg7uF15fMv3T9t-JQt00zy3xGTW_n3MxKTphql21xEX7eeU2S2mEWGrDRpIOc-y3IPG82TgkQb3rguVrczAVRW2EEVEF3L5uRAVn-Le2yHHwkMwv81ot7TH3UQYxscSW9V/s320/IMG_5874.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
and the homemade hurricane lamp...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6qgcu8i9HAWmHM7ahXLqPQoOua659dq10bxEyUXv1RkfgIOB3kWYXlpbfSsf8WrZiAFsjfm9Vz9RGJoAAbR4mgrBGIbzdqEp3zYLsI3Od83aD8lF4Ibz9dQPrQ9b64R0f_e4dIBeb-rWO/s1600/IMG_5878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6qgcu8i9HAWmHM7ahXLqPQoOua659dq10bxEyUXv1RkfgIOB3kWYXlpbfSsf8WrZiAFsjfm9Vz9RGJoAAbR4mgrBGIbzdqEp3zYLsI3Od83aD8lF4Ibz9dQPrQ9b64R0f_e4dIBeb-rWO/s320/IMG_5878.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
But I needed an organizer for the ribbon still on a roll and without a hole to hang the roll from. Like these...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTN3KqaCJaDyW-KoRxrcQ074uRWNNc4ShAZn5Zb5eqE0m4uPBVNhQ22GmtllxW0A2Piy9bwARb3QpzlVOEQ5Ks67I2ufe4-zIEJbXYQVGb3s5d_RgZsrTpndzhX9hcoX3jCu01HT7dv-iQ/s1600/IMG_5868.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTN3KqaCJaDyW-KoRxrcQ074uRWNNc4ShAZn5Zb5eqE0m4uPBVNhQ22GmtllxW0A2Piy9bwARb3QpzlVOEQ5Ks67I2ufe4-zIEJbXYQVGb3s5d_RgZsrTpndzhX9hcoX3jCu01HT7dv-iQ/s320/IMG_5868.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>I was tired of seeing them just sit on the shelf, hidden and not used. So by cutting holes in the lid...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0vYP9MnDgh5s0Xm8Yu0BMAOGcighfzXbwuN6dO3-pM2uBZbPQ1YDZdj3hYNlqalFN2lcKnuSRMVZz9bzrRCLiOjkKTj4Oj7j1K30jjtlQgj7roHfaiDqR8UN62toPMwdinybfim1eB7l2/s1600/IMG_5885.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0vYP9MnDgh5s0Xm8Yu0BMAOGcighfzXbwuN6dO3-pM2uBZbPQ1YDZdj3hYNlqalFN2lcKnuSRMVZz9bzrRCLiOjkKTj4Oj7j1K30jjtlQgj7roHfaiDqR8UN62toPMwdinybfim1eB7l2/s320/IMG_5885.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I repurposed a everyday item into a very useful storage container.<br />

I filed it away in my "Ideas That Inspire" and left it at that.<br />
<br />
Earlier this week, I began to do my spring clean up in the yard and wouldn't you know, my rake broke. I threw it in the garbage can and then had a second thought, I could repurpose!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqfuB3I3vjiJsLoLjRzjv2jEtO1o45Fd2nHQGhO9JSYkQg76uwWylHXI1H6DOYUw3sgPyYYGYUeHSk7-ZrWApRSVNgh1c57xX6x8X8KKvfszWBpv2yhdxr5nqmvmO0f0DqNrV_fNlQmq8i/s1600/rustic+rake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqfuB3I3vjiJsLoLjRzjv2jEtO1o45Fd2nHQGhO9JSYkQg76uwWylHXI1H6DOYUw3sgPyYYGYUeHSk7-ZrWApRSVNgh1c57xX6x8X8KKvfszWBpv2yhdxr5nqmvmO0f0DqNrV_fNlQmq8i/s320/rustic+rake.jpg" width="282" /></a></div><br />
It is the perfect size to hang under your kitchen cabinets, or on a wall over a beverage cart. My husband also came up with an idea, ribbon organizer for your scrapbook room! Isn't he clever!?! <br />
<br />
This piece is FOR SALE, let me know if you are interested in it. And remember to repurpose, repurpose, repurpose!!!<br />

Some days just getting a dinner prepared and on the table seems more like an episode from "A Minute To Win It". Being that I would rather prepare a healthy, fresh meal out of my own kitchen than out of a box, freezing the extras is a must for those days when we have ballet lessons, tap lessons, cello practice, homework, church, dentist appointments, etc. This was my day a couple of weeks ago, and could not fit anything else into that day, whew! To ease this busy lifestyle of our family is simple, when preparing a meal, double or triple the recipe and freeze the extras for another day (this really does not take any additional time, but saves you a lot of precious time later). Here is a great place to find those perfect freezer recipes, <a href="http://onceamonthmom.com/celebrate-national-freezer-food-day-with-us/" target="_blank">onceamonthmom.com.</a> In addition, they are celebrating National Frozen Food Day! With the fun (and addiction) of <a href="http://pinterest.com/onceamonthmom/national-frozen-food-day/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a><span id="goog_1515775295">, you will be able to share, view, add your own favorites. I am so pleased with the outcome of this project. The paint samples hung in our foyer for months before I started, showing all of our guests my thoughts and ideas, imagining what I wanted and hoping it would all come together in the end. And...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg16oooCHa5PqFmIQsUsycrGhRreAjGWRcuvxyLU6Zm-I96vYGBT1dUhO1JGSH0aHW5VEj1iiPHuP5VKrnBG4xVFltZIvNiM2eczz5V4p9A1LlFPPie5-iGlzGBRH7teF26Ta2_7sUG5RoZ/s1600/IMG_5730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg16oooCHa5PqFmIQsUsycrGhRreAjGWRcuvxyLU6Zm-I96vYGBT1dUhO1JGSH0aHW5VEj1iiPHuP5VKrnBG4xVFltZIvNiM2eczz5V4p9A1LlFPPie5-iGlzGBRH7teF26Ta2_7sUG5RoZ/s320/IMG_5730.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />

You have probably noticed that there is very little decor in my after pics. I am working on that, but you will have to check back to see how I tackle the challenge of decorating this space. Ideas have been running rapid and I can't wait! Staciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12867046190273999416noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697755804381947521.post-80905973770884222622012-03-02T13:53:00.002-06:002012-03-08T22:06:05.659-06:00Vintage Chalkboard FunI am really loving the new rave, shabby chic chalkboards. They are beautiful, colorful decor that can be used anywhere from a kitchen to a formal living room. You can write your menus, favorite quotes, or chalk out a faux clock. I have seen so many unique displays and I want to try them all. One of my favorite inspirations is Pottery Barn, oh how I wish I could go on an all expense paid shopping spree. But since reality far out weighs my wishes, I have to choose the knock off path. Not that this upsets me, I love getting my hands dirty, tee hee hee!<br />
<br />
Here is my first project, love, love, LOVE how this turned out!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij8knGQAlflZtVM1dYDahazRGej3M2diYYTJS3prx2PhyphenhyphenQk20zUTpPSU8DY8tEeI3pUTlBQn25iRKwH9_8_WpQvRLDk3bhLWY_TV7TlGACcix4NQ7E7aQobwNT4W9UDemcoH90jVe-vyHr/s1600/IMG_5724.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij8knGQAlflZtVM1dYDahazRGej3M2diYYTJS3prx2PhyphenhyphenQk20zUTpPSU8DY8tEeI3pUTlBQn25iRKwH9_8_WpQvRLDk3bhLWY_TV7TlGACcix4NQ7E7aQobwNT4W9UDemcoH90jVe-vyHr/s320/IMG_5724.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I especially am thrilled with the vintage touch that came through.<br />
<br />

Antiqued perfectly!!!<br />
<br />
Here is the before, I received this mirror from my in-laws, it had been hanging in their garage for years. I couldn't resist the beautiful curves and scrolls...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixltuS7KQZDBweegax6hkR4uc0NF9kTlJsfeBnq3suIIqg7_4EP51EddOCZcZaj-N94DzxAuMtMNs88lcRWhyigAoZZilO6YqGs-XPaXYQ3MUJ7V8LpLJ1xI1NdJby1pqGmuTvPn7XIeK7/s1600/IMG_5722.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixltuS7KQZDBweegax6hkR4uc0NF9kTlJsfeBnq3suIIqg7_4EP51EddOCZcZaj-N94DzxAuMtMNs88lcRWhyigAoZZilO6YqGs-XPaXYQ3MUJ7V8LpLJ1xI1NdJby1pqGmuTvPn7XIeK7/s320/IMG_5722.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I took this pic outside before I started spray painting it, can you tell by the reflection in the mirror it was one of those beautiful, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky kind of days?!? We have had the best weather lately, perfect 70 degree days, great for painting outside!<br />
<br />
I have a couple more in the process, not quite finished. I am playing around with a combo of paint and stain, to give the perfect vintage feel.<br />
<br />
Now, the carpet is being installed right now. I am hoping to post the final foyer pics later today if the lighting is still good in foyer when they finish. If not, watch for the post early next week!<br />
<br />
Get inspired and have a great weekend!!!<br />

Mostly due to the fact I have no prior experience with any of it. The project included stripping wood, sanding, staining wood, and varnishing wood. I knew exactly what I wanted the finished project to look like, and I had to do it as frugal as possible. <br />
<br />
Here is before:<br />

First was stripping the wood work. This was the messiest part, but quite the learning experience. Once I found my groove, it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. After the banister and all the end posts were stripped, each spindle needed primed and painted. I used a one inch sponge brush to apply one coat of primer and two coats of paint on <strong>SEVENTY SIX</strong> spindles. This was not difficult at all, just tedious. As a reminder, the side of the spindles and banister that can be seen most often is on the backside of the staircase, in other words, to paint, strip, sand, stain, etc. you can only do so by leaning over the banister or by an extension ladder (a step ladder was too short). Therefore, most of what I did, I did by hanging upside down over the banister. What a sight, fortunately there are no pictures of this, lol!<br />

I have been wanting to redo our Foyer and open staircase, as well as the staircase leading from the kitchen to the upstairs. The Foyer is two stories and I am not happy with the color of the wood, and their is a lot of wood!!!<br />

Today I have started to strip the wood. When I have completed this massive step (I have never stripped woodwork before, yikes!), I will restain the handrails and endposts and paint the spindles a creamy white to match the woodwork I have already repainted throughout our home. My plan as of right now is to have this finished by Thanksgiving... Wish me luck!Staciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12867046190273999416noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1697755804381947521.post-28140220826583980532011-11-11T08:51:00.000-06:002011-11-11T08:51:41.334-06:00Journal to RememberWith Grandma and Grandpa being here, I wanted to make them something to record all their memories of their visit. Their 10 day visit has gone by much too fast and so much has taken place during this time, we did not want them to forget anything about their time with us. <br />
<br />
I love making journals and mini albums. It is a smaller space to design and like scrapping a page, there are no rules, by the way that is my favorite part. Tee hee hee.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6G-ZIplP7aRr6Ef1RlDpCgCzRLgGr1F38P1FgJ4daP_gNzR0uxlvXvhm6hlz2PFDiMEl5KLXuJCVRv4Xhqi2fEYKyaywq5uyaqqgiBv6ofejww-410ihuC3XFABHRFTfmzHMbIQhVhbW8/s1600/IMG_5120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6G-ZIplP7aRr6Ef1RlDpCgCzRLgGr1F38P1FgJ4daP_gNzR0uxlvXvhm6hlz2PFDiMEl5KLXuJCVRv4Xhqi2fEYKyaywq5uyaqqgiBv6ofejww-410ihuC3XFABHRFTfmzHMbIQhVhbW8/s320/IMG_5120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
This is the front cover, made with the same font used for the banner I made for Grandma and Grandpa's guest bedroom. I have not bound the mini journal album yet, I am waiting for Grandma to journal in it.<br />
<br />
Here are a few of the inside pages...<br />

This was a frequent phone call I made in the past and miss being able to do this now. So when we hear of our parents wanting to make the trip to visit our home, we start thinking of all the ways we can spoil them. They worked very hard to give us everything we needed and it is fun to show them our gratitude and give them a special treat or two, tee hee hee. <br />
<br />
My In-Laws arrived Friday and I wanted to put a smile on their face right away. Decorating the guest bath and bedroom for this beautiful autumn season was a very appropriate decor choice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxDMlw_smjXfSp_cAs6sze0B-4ZjvvzDOhTKdrvrytvUsX7ss1PTb51GA9YEDZKg961xu1n3pMz2pmvVI6vQcsup-2gXYhbDzZtcAqRXGLFvxLFCEbmkoJmMS1p8h1eyzrrUzK6KRhWuEE/s1600/IMG_5032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxDMlw_smjXfSp_cAs6sze0B-4ZjvvzDOhTKdrvrytvUsX7ss1PTb51GA9YEDZKg961xu1n3pMz2pmvVI6vQcsup-2gXYhbDzZtcAqRXGLFvxLFCEbmkoJmMS1p8h1eyzrrUzK6KRhWuEE/s320/IMG_5032.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

The banner was made first by using cardstock from an autumn collection by Making Memories. I had purchased the collection on 80% off clearance a couple of years ago at Michaels. Hint, I only purchase my hobby items when they are at least 50% off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicwPqGu81GGyWocINcAW_dfYMDpTjxwbm_6G1CvhZ7Se2mvsYBZQz3f2IfHdj6ViPZcKquTpFrGMJB5JoanwCtTMRP3MGDZqPwVHEuT3mS27QXVVLSWxJSsZszwJvh3mo5Ee6ra3vH4r3W/s1600/IMG_5019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicwPqGu81GGyWocINcAW_dfYMDpTjxwbm_6G1CvhZ7Se2mvsYBZQz3f2IfHdj6ViPZcKquTpFrGMJB5JoanwCtTMRP3MGDZqPwVHEuT3mS27QXVVLSWxJSsZszwJvh3mo5Ee6ra3vH4r3W/s320/IMG_5019.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I then started cutting 4 x 6 rectangles, and making them into perfect triangle, flag shapes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCggIVw76LFK60Ah8zLTrChnpK1StB5gA4akvOvCf5-M9N_V-eSz1wVsdMfWS9CGsF2iEuWdmGI3t3zphvJw7iXXYq24_lZV7-kJcave1ZLXNRrFzpz9FhvTakuN1rhIOXIkUjJCVlCnP1/s1600/IMG_5020.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCggIVw76LFK60Ah8zLTrChnpK1StB5gA4akvOvCf5-M9N_V-eSz1wVsdMfWS9CGsF2iEuWdmGI3t3zphvJw7iXXYq24_lZV7-kJcave1ZLXNRrFzpz9FhvTakuN1rhIOXIkUjJCVlCnP1/s320/IMG_5020.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
For my last birthday, I purchased the Tim Holtz paper rosette die. The rosettes would create a beautiful backing for the title of the banner. Using my Cuttlebug for this die creates a little extra work, but the important thing is it does the trick without having to purchase a Sizzix.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbxwklBtqCBG3nv2lxUjvOv25ZA20RNaHp5oxuOaMDMA6UPsuFBBrIpgTGXedkoY6ch81gu5qLCmjmb9knIRtEKdDbaie1TfG5cSETzl5Tu-d_Z5N1D49sCm6UGIM6qgP50hpPmolsQuHR/s1600/IMG_5021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbxwklBtqCBG3nv2lxUjvOv25ZA20RNaHp5oxuOaMDMA6UPsuFBBrIpgTGXedkoY6ch81gu5qLCmjmb9knIRtEKdDbaie1TfG5cSETzl5Tu-d_Z5N1D49sCm6UGIM6qgP50hpPmolsQuHR/s320/IMG_5021.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
And on to the assembly and inking...<br />

Fall Festive!!!<br />
<br />
The title I chose for the banner was "Happy Fall", the font is from the Storybook Cricut cartridge, fun vintage cartridge!!!<br />
<br />
Next was the assembly of the "pretty" paper onto the already made cardstock flags and the adhering everything together.<br />

The other item I always like to include in the guest bedroom is a basket of favorite snacks, water (plain and bubbly), and glasses. This ensures the guests have what they need within their private space. The bathroom is also always stocked with any and everything one might need. When making any trip, items are often forgotten and there are no worries, extras are available, deodorants, soaps, shampoos, lotions, perfume, toothpaste, blowdryer, etc.<br />

Well, so far we have been pretty busy! Grilling out Saturday was a hit with the parents, thick center pork chops, cheesy hashbrown casserole, and simmered green beans. No one walked away disappointed. This day also included our very own Sunflower Princess being involved in the Miss Walnut Valley pageant. Rehearsal Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and pageant and reception Saturday night. Our Princess was crowned by Miss Kansas herself (which is also our next door neighbor, needless to say we are big fans!), who will be competing for Miss America in January, watch it live on ABC!!!<br />
<br />
Saturday was also my prep day for the Thanksgiving feast I was preparing for our family. Pie crusts were prepared for the Pumpkin Pie, the Pumpkin Roll was made, as well as the Deviled Eggs and Crab Dip. Oh, and not to mention, keeping up with the best football team in history, the University of Oklahoma's Sooners!!! BOOMER!!!<br />
<br />
Well, after our busy Saturday, we were finally able to sit and relax for a bit before bedtime. While catching up with one another, the earth started to shake, yes, shake, it was a 5.7 earthquake... in Kansas!!! WOW, what an experience!<br />
<br />
Church and Sunday School started our Sunday morning. We were delighted to have our parents join our Sunday School class, and they fit right in on our discussions and lessons.<br />
<br />
After church, we came home to snack and start the Thanksgiving feast. Our dinner included, of course, the turkey, oven baked macaroni and cheese, corn pudding, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, pumpkin roll and pumpkin pie. I have not been able to put anything else in my belly since, lol!<br />
<br />
Here comes my disappointment, I didn't take any pictures of the table once it was set with our china, stemware, place cards (made by our oldest and myself, cute pilgrim hats), etc. sigh.... It looked beautiful, perfectly centered under the chandelier in the formal dining room, ugh! The good news was a I was ecstatic I prepared everything, wearing a white button down shirt and it was still in perfect white after the feast, that's a first!<br />
<br />
All in all, it has been very busy since Friday, but all the hard work was worth the laughter and giggles I heard. We are very grateful for our family and miss the loved one we can no longer have with us. With her loss, we truly appreciate and take every opportunity to show our love for all who are near to our hearts. Once they are gone, you can not ask for that visit again...Staciehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12867046190273999416noreply@blogger.com1
